KU B.E.A.R.S 4Kids

Hi, I’m Guthrie!

I’m proud to be the first bear representing KU School of Medicine-Wichita Pediatrics’ new KU B.E.A.R.S. 4Kids program — Bears Enabling Advances in Research and Support for Kids. I help doctors and staff comfort children, discover better treatments and possibly new cures!

I’m named after Drs. Richard and Diana Guthrie. When Dr. Richard Guthrie started our department, he and Diana inspired kindness and quality in children’s health care. In addition, he is known worldwide for groundbreaking pediatric diabetes research.

I hope I can inspire everyone to help us care for kids the best we can.

Together, We Can:

  • continue to help more Kansas babies make it to their first birthday,
  • increase the ability of our state to treat kids with mental health problems and
  • make health care for children safer and more effective.

How it Works:

By sponsoring a bear for $35, a reassuring friend will be matched with a child receiving treatment. All proceeds will benefit pediatric research and innovation at the KU School of Medicine-Wichita.

KU Wichita Pediatrics is Kansas’ largest team of pediatric doctors. Supporting KU B.E.A.R.S. 4Kids helps us have a lasting impact by effectively treating sick children and conducting research to discover new ways to keep children healthy.
