Private giving to KU reaches $258.8 million in fiscal 2015

Donors supporting the University of Kansas contributed $258.8 million in fiscal 2015, which ended June 30.

“We’re pleased to report another outstanding year of private giving by alumni and friends,” said Dale Seuferling, president of KU Endowment. “We applaud the donors who made this possible and their belief in those who benefit from their generosity — students, faculty, researchers, patients and entire communities. It’s our privilege to partner with them to accomplish our mission of building a greater university.”

The strength of this year’s fundraising success brings the total contributed to Far Above: The Campaign for Kansas to $1.45 billion to date; the campaign is scheduled to conclude on June 30, 2016.

Donors to Far Above have made significant investments in the university’s human capital. These include 652 new scholarships, fellowships and awards for deserving students. They also have created 46 endowed professorships aimed at recruiting and retaining exceptional faculty, researchers, physician-scientists and directors.

Additionally, campaign donors have funded several new buildings currently under construction on the Lawrence campus, including Capitol Federal Hall; the DeBruce Center; Marie S. McCarthy Hall; and Ritchie and Slawson halls, which comprise the Earth, Energy and Environment Center. Donors also have provided key support for the Health Education Building at the KU Medical Center and the Cambridge North Tower at The University of Kansas Hospital.

Far Above seeks support to educate future leaders, advance medicine, accelerate discovery and drive economic growth to seize the opportunities of the future. The campaign is managed by KU Endowment, the independent, nonprofit organization serving as the official fundraising and fund-management organization for KU. Founded in 1891, KU Endowment was the first foundation of its kind at a U.S. public university.
