Research

Gifts for research at KU create the circumstances our scientists need to generate new knowledge. And when that knowledge improves lives, gifts for research do far more than that: A gift to KU research is a gift of hope.

Facilities — A new laboratory might provide tools our scientists need to develop better treatments for such diseases as cancer, Alzheimer’s, diabetes and Parkinson’s.

Research assistance — A new assistant could help a researcher find a better way to identify autism, so that autistic children can get the early intervention they need.

Travel — Each trip to the South American rain forest allows our scientists to catalogue Earth’s biodiversity, which can lead to new drugs and a better understanding of how to maintain our environment.

A major research university, KU focuses much of its work on treating and preventing disease. All research at the Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., is concerned with that task. Moreover, life sciences accounts for 59 percent of all research expenditures on the Lawrence campus.

Other KU research focuses on psychology, speech pathology, education, the humanities, physics, information technology, biology, anthropology, transportion, political science and paleontology, among many other topics. KU researchers are well known for their work in Latin American, East Asian, Russian, European, African and Indigenous Nations studies.

Donations of any size help. Modest amounts given over time can build to create substantial support. Major gifts can establish endowed funds named for yourself or someone else. Endowed funds provide financial support for KU in perpetuity.
