Donor Recognition | Watkins Society
“I … wish to provide a bequest in aid … of the University of Kansas. … The best way to do this is to make use of … the Kansas University Endowment Association.” — Elizabeth M. Watkins, 1930
The Watkins Society recognizes individuals who have developed an estate plan or other deferred gift arrangement with KU Endowment that will ultimately benefit the University of Kansas, KU Medical Center, the School of Medicine-Wichita or the KU Edwards Campus.
Elizabeth M. Watkins, for whom the society is named, donated generously to KU through her will. In the 1930s, she bequeathed her home, which became the residence for KU chancellors. She also funded the construction of Watkins Memorial Health Center (now Twente Hall), Watkins Scholarship Hall and Miller Scholarship Hall, among many other initiatives.
The Watkins Society recognizes donors who commit to planned gifts at any level and through a variety of gift arrangements.
Jack Schwartz, director of gift planning at 785.832.7327, and Nell Lucas, senior director of gift planning at the KU Medical Center at 913.588.5551, will be happy to answer your questions about gift planning. If you’ve already made plans for KU through your estate, Jack and Nell can make sure you are properly recognized for your gift and that your intentions are carried out as you wish.
