Support from foundations and corporations is vital to the ability of the University of Kansas to accomplish its mission. Although KU is a state institution, the state provides only about 22 percent of its funding.
A gift to KU is an investment in an institution that has earned accolades for the quality of its education, service and research.
KU is the only university in the state to hold membership in the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU), a select group of 62 public and private research universities that represents excellence in graduate and professional education and the highest achievements in research internationally.
In fiscal 2008, contributions from corporations and foundations totaled $28.3 million, 30 percent of KU Endowment’s gift revenue.
