Dale Seuferling graduated from Louisburg High School in 1973 and earned a bachelor's degree in journalism at KU in 1977. He began his career in the university advancement profession that same year as KU's first broadcast media coordinator for the Office of University Relations.
In May 1981, he joined KU Endowment, and since then he has held positions in a variety of areas within the organization, including: public relations, constituent development, major gifts and fund-raising management. He was one of two associate directors of Campaign Kansas, a major fund-raising campaign. He was the executive vice president for development and also the corporate secretary of KU Endowment.
He was named president in July 2002. In addition to his duties as president, Dale directed the KU First campaign, which raised $653 million for KU through December 2004.
Dale has held a number of leadership roles in the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), including: chair of the eight-state mid-America district; member of the National Commission on Philanthropy; and member of a national committee charged with oversight of reporting standards used for capital campaigns in higher education. Case awarded him its Distinguished Service Citation in 1999.
